Reset PS3 Video Setting - Blank Screen - How to switch from HDMI to Composite - Composite to HDMI

I ran across this problem when moving my Playstation 3 from my parents house to my house. I don't have an HD-TV(yet!!). So when I brough it over from my parents house (who have HDMI), to my TV (composite connection), the TV would just be blank.

This was because I had set the PS3 to output HDMI at my parents house, but forgotten to switch it to composite before bring it over to my house. So driving blind, I would never be able to find the menu to reset it.

By Sony had already though of this problem and there is an easy solution:

Make sure the system is off.
Hold down the Power Button for 5-6 seconds - until you hear the second beep.
That's it, your video settings are reset and you should be able to choose your input and configure it from there.

Simple!!

Update - If this didn't solve the problem, take a look at my updated list of solutions to get your PS3 working again!!

But to try and fix your problem... turn on your PS3. Give it a 15-20 seconds. Plug in your controller with the usb cable. After a few seconds (10-15) unplug it, this will at the least, sycn your controller to the system.

As for the video, I've responded with almost every possible solution I can think of when others have asked... take a look at the comments below. If none of those help, check out my updated post about resetting the video settings.

Have you tried using a different pair of cables? Or like others have mentioned, try flipping the cable around. Also, try a different TV if you have that option.

The more you can narrow down the problem, the easier it is to find out what's wrong. So try a few other combinations and see what happens.

Make sure your TV is Capable of 720p then 1080i and so on. Go up gradually if you don't know what your Native is. Have you made sure your TV is on the HDMI Input. Does the HDMI input work at all? If it shows a blank screen does come back after waiting 15 seconds? Do you get sound?.

Once you've reset the video, it's a good idea to go into the Video Settings and optimize it for your display. The wizard will auto-detect and recomend the best settings, you can tweak them further from there as well.

If things still look grainy, you might want to check the cables themselves, or try a different set of cables. If it's bad pictures, it's most likely that.. or an incorrect PS3 setting. It's fixable, just have to play around in the menus.
