PS3 - Good Themes and how to install them
So here is another instalment of a PlayStation3 tip to 'enhance' your user experience.
Some of my previous tips include:
I was getting bored looking at the same PS3 XMB (XrossMediaBar) - fancy word for your main menu bar/screen. Changing the colour of the default theme was fun for a while, but now the icons and background are getting a bit repetitive.
Since there is an option in the XMB for themes, I assumed that there is some way of uploading/installing/downloading/whatever a new theme.
So after a bit of research, I found the process. It's very simple - Just 10 easy to follow steps.
- Fire up your PS3 and head over to the built in web-browser.
- Navigate over to a site that has PS3 themes (see list below).
- Browse around till you find the theme you'd like to download.
- Find the link that lets you download the file.
- Make sure it's in a .pt3 format.
- Download it.
- Exit your web-browser.
- Go to Settings >> Theme Settings >> Theme
- If you successfully downloaded the .pt3 file, then the theme should be listed there.
- Select it, and click on Apply.
It's that simple - now finding a theme that actually looks good is another story. I tried out a few themes and they were created in bad taste to say the least. Ugly icons, horrible low resolution background image or just a bad colour scheme.
My personal favourites so far have been the Aqua Vision and MKR. Different icons, and eye pleasing colours.
Here is a list of a few good, quality sites I've found so far:
If you want more - just Google it.
Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!!
