Monday Night All You Can Eat Wings

Restaurant:
Honest Lawyer
Address/Location:
141 George Street, Ottawa, ON, Canada
Highlights:
Texas Gold and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ flavoured wings
Lowlights:
Parmesan Pineapple Curry and Honey Garlic flavoured wings
What we ordered:

We had been craving wings for a while now, so what better way to satisfy that appitite than to goto an all you can eat restaurant?

Thus, the only things we order were wings and glasses of water. We tried out all the kinds of wings, except for the suicide, carribean jerk, frank's red hot, cajun, dill and the plain.

  • Caesar: Not bad, a good taste, but gets a bit boring after 2-3 wings. Also as the Caeser dressing sit around, it gets stickier. Best to share the platter of 6 with a few people
  • Texas Gold: These were definetely worth their weight in gold!! The waitress described them as a mix of honey garlic and and 2nd degree. There were AMAZING!!
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree: The usual mild, medium, spicy. The 2nd degree was perfect, but the jump to 3rd was more than a couple of knotches. They were a challenge to say the least. (Got us sweating!)
  • Honey Garlic: It wasn't the typical honey garilc that we're used to. Way to much honey, and no garilc.
  • Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ: Another winner! There were a great mix of tangy, hot, and sweet.
  • Parmesan Pineapple Curry: Umm.. Curry flavoured wings? We were curious, and yeah - not sure how to describe them. Weird. Odd. I wouldn't recomend them.
  • Salt and Vinigar: These were way to greasy and with not enogh batter or taste.

Because of the 'All you can eat night', the kitchen was probably pumping out these wings like no tomorrow. That's why the quality was very low. Some of the wings were juicy and plump looking, but after biting into them, I found lots of 'pink'. Some wings were fried to a crisp. Other didn't have a lot of sauce or seasioning. Needless to say, because of the pink chicken, I spend an hour in the night, and a few hours the next day sitting on the 'throne'.

So, my suggestion would be, enjoy the wings, but just keep at eye on the meat, and if it doesn't look right... send it back or don't eat it at the least.

Overall Experience (service, quality and ambiance):

Since we had class at 7, we decided to go for the All you can eat wings before that. So we got there around 4:30 and the place was empty, which meant we had the full attention of the server.

Since we were so early, they hadn't set up their wings buffet either. So our server informed us that she would bring 6 at a time of any flavour that we wanted. She did just that and the service was great.

Like my critizm above, some of the wings were cooked to a crips, other were still pink on the inside.

Other than that, Honest Lawyer is a great place to go with a group of friends. They have tons of TVs, old school arcade games, air hockey, an L-shaped pool table, and a bowling lane.. that's right a BOWLING lane!!

The atmosphere is great, and the staff was friendly. The tables, floors and washrooms were clean.
