Found my colours - Drupal Themes

This is a follow up to my previous entry re: Looking for colour - Drupal Themes. So, as you can see, I've found my colours and the site is all themed out - umm.. sort of.

When I started out to theme this site, I really didn't know where to start. I browsed through the Drupal.org Theme Archives quite a few times to see if I could find something that would fit what I had in mind. I also had a couple of ideas, and I thought I'd try things myself, but after tinkering around with the css for the garland theme, they weren't panning out very well.

Leo Laprote's website TWIT, uses Drupal as it's framework. At first glance it may not be obvious, but if you scroll to the bottom, it says so in the footer. I have also heard him mention it on a couple of podcasts. What does this have to do with my project to theme this website?

Well, his podcast net @ nite with Amber MacArthur, more specifically podcast: Inside the Net 25: Jeff Robbins on Drupal gave a very insight into what goes behing creating a successful, scalable, and eye pleasing Drupal website.

On that podcast, Leo interveiwed the folks at Lullabot, who were the architechs for the TWIT project. After listening to that podcast, which directed me to the Lullabot Podcasts, which is where I heard the Drupal Podcast No. 44: Thinking About Theming. If you are new to theming for Drupal, or new to anything regarding Drupal for that matter, these are the podcasts you should listen to. Great insight, and lots of useful information.

That is the podcast that got me started with theming. They went over the basics of theming, what files to look for while theming, and some very helpful tips and tricks. On of the best pieces of advice I received from them was that the garland theme was very hard to theme for a beginner. They suggested the user of the Zen Theme.

I also ran across these two videos from Drupal School - Theming with Zen and Zengaged to Theming. Very very useful, and a definite requirement for anyone who is trying to get started with theming.

Another great resource I found is Drupal Dude, very good instructional videos.

These resources have been invaluable for my learning experience. Now that I have a good idea of how theming works in Drupal, I think I might start venturing into being more creative, and we'll just have to wait and see where that will take us.

As of this writing, only the graphic portion of the theme is set. I am still working on the fonts/colours/and layout of the nodes.

I tend to agree but I am not

I tend to agree but I am not sure if I understand everything here. Can you please explain this in more detail. Thanks. But in the meantime I want to tell you about this. I just found out about a much easier way for building websites and graphics that rock. There is a lot of crap out there but this really turns graphics and sites that suck into 1 Million Dollar type of product launch graphics and sites. Everybody knows that webdesign and web graphics are part of how you are going to be perceived by your customers and this is what the 1 Dollar Million launch guys like Mike Filsaime and Chris McNeeney know and use as well. So, listen up Mike Filsaime and Chris McNeeney have actually used this exact program to design their sites and graphics for their big launche openings. Within just 7 days after opening their product launches they have hit the 1 Million Dollar mark of sales with these amazing graphics and sites. Just repeat this easy to follow program after them and apply some techniques from Jeff Walkers product launch formula (he is the creator of the product launch formula, just look it up in google) and you will see how everyting is connected to amazing looking stuff!
