After having owned my cellphone for about two years, I was expecting to notice a drop in battery life and it definitely has dropped - substantially. I have the Sony W810i, great phone, but it has always had crappy battery life. For the first few months, one charge would last me less than a day and a half. Now I'm happy if I can make it through a whole day without having to charge it in the car.
Here are a few things I've been doing to get the most juice out of my battery:
- Turn down the brightness of the screen - most phones have this option
- Reduce the time that the screen stays on after inactivity - I have mine set to the minimum (5 seconds)
- Turn off the screensaver - Usually after a period of inactivity, a screensaver will play before the screen fully turns off
- Set your wallpaper to "none" or "blank", especially if your phone is reading that wallpaper image from a memory card
- On most phones, the screen stays on during a call, and this can drain the battery pretty quickly. Play around with your phone and figure out how to turn it off. In my case, while I'm on a call, if I hit the quick key to view my contact or goto the phone menu, the screen will turn off after 5 seconds

Sat, 08/23/2008 - 03:56 Well, it is the fun stuff that sucks up battery life. I had the fun stuff on for the first few months, but after that, it's no longer a novelty... But my battery life is getting worse day by day, I might have to order a set from ebay. They aren't expensive, and they'll bring battery life back upto 1.5 days at least. And it's not time for a phone upgrade yet, waiting for some Android phones, hopefully during Christmas.

Too bad for all those cell-phone addicts who listen to their music on the metro (they should burn in hell) aloud and send stuff via Bluetooth, seems like they have to live with a shorter battery life. =)
