I bought the SB-800 - And it's worth evey penny!
I bought the Nikon Speedlight SB-800. I had already made up my mind that I
needed a flash - it was just a matter of weighting the pros and cons between the SB-600 and SB-800
models. I decided to go with the SB-800 because my philosophy has always been
to make an investment. I don't like buying cheaper stuff and then having to
upgrade later. I'm not saying that the SB-600 is cheap by any means, but I
liked the features that the SB-800 offered over the SB-600.
At some point, I would like to make photography more than just a hobby, so ultimately I will need the SB-800 - which can be used as a commander for other flashes. I also like the extra power it has, the modeling light, and strobe lighting. It also came with a diffuser that was really handy when I shot almost 130 pictures for a party we hosted on Saturday.
I purchased the Speedlight at the same store as I did my D80 - Galaxy Camera. I had a ton of questions regarding each model and regarding their various functions and I shot them off to Robert (works at the store). He calmly and patiently answered all my questions which were really helpful when it came down to making my final decision.
I will post a few pictures demonstrating the SB-800 and why I wanted something more than the built-in flash.
