So here is another instalment of a PlayStation3 tip to 'enhance' your user experience.

Some of my previous tips include:

PS3 - Theme - Aqua VisionI was getting bored looking at the same PS3 XMB (XrossMediaBar) - fancy word for your main menu bar/screen. Changing the colour of the default theme was fun for a while, but now the icons and background are getting a bit repetitive.

Since there is an option in the XMB for themes, I assumed that there is some way of uploading/installing/downloading/whatever a new theme.

So after a bit of research, I found the process. It's very simple - Just 10 easy to follow steps.

  1. Fire up your PS3 and head over to the built in web-browser.
  2. Navigate over to a site that has PS3 themes (see list below).
  3. Browse around till you find the theme you'd like to download.
  4. Find the link that lets you download the file.
  5. Make sure it's in a .pt3 format.
  6. Download it.
  7. Exit your web-browser.
  8. Go to Settings >> Theme Settings >> Theme
  9. If you successfully downloaded the .pt3 file, then the theme should be listed there.
  10. Select it, and click on Apply.

It's that simple - now finding a theme that actually looks good is another story. I tried out a few themes and they were created in bad taste to say the least. Ugly icons, horrible low resolution background image or just a bad colour scheme.

My personal favourites so far have been the Aqua Vision and MKR. Different icons, and eye pleasing colours.

Here is a list of a few good, quality sites I've found so far:
