Reset PS3 Video Setting - Blank Screen - How to switch from HDMI to Composite - Composite to HDMI
I ran across this problem when moving my Playstation 3 from my parents house to my house. I don't have an HD-TV(yet!!). So when I brough it over from my parents house (who have HDMI), to my TV (composite connection), the TV would just be blank.
This was because I had set the PS3 to output HDMI at my parents house, but forgotten to switch it to composite before bring it over to my house. So driving blind, I would never be able to find the menu to reset it.
By Sony had already though of this problem and there is an easy solution:
Hey Google - Look over here - Canada is holding a wireless airwave auction too!!
Wouldn't that be just amazing? The Monday morning headlines read - Google buys airwaves over the United States and Canada.
Just yesterday the Canadian Congress announced that they will be auctioning the radio airwaves to open up competition to new wireless content providers.
And today, Google has announced that they will be bidding for the 700mhz spectrum in the US. It would be awesome if they were to look north of the border and buy some airwaves here as well. Think of the possibilities. WOW!
The 'blogosphere' has been buzzing all day with this news:
Drupal Path (URL Aliasing) - Getting it working with XML Sitemap(gsitemap)
So another great bit of advice that I received from Mike at OpenConcept Consulting was to use the Path and Path Auto Module.
So I did just that. From now on, you shouldn't see any /blog/node/## urls on this site. After researching into this further, human readable urls improve your page ranking. Just what I need.
My First Facebook Birthday
So today is my birthday, and also my first Facebook Birthday. This is where everyone on Facebook knows about my birthday. It's interesting to see how many people wish me happy birthday on my wall or send me a message.
To be honest, I rarely check the 'Upcoming Birthdays' section to remember to wish people. Most of the people I have constant contact with, I know their birthdays, and I'd rather give them a phonecall.
I opened my inbox this morning, and I had 12 new wall posts. Throughout the morning I've been getting a couple more posts. A lot of people get 'pre' birthday wishes, I didn't get any. I'm wondering how many 'post' birthday wishes I'll get.
OpenConcept Consulting - Thanks for your help with Drupal and Google SEO
Searching around for ways to improve my page ranking with Google and other search engines, I ran across this article written by Mike Gifford at OpenConcept Consulting.
It's a great read, and give tons of useful information.
Ottawa Congress heard my cries - Initiating Wireless Provider Competition in Canada
Again, I don't think the Ottawa Congress (Parliament, The Big Guns, whatever you call them...) didn’t heard me specifically, but heard the cries of tons of people like me.
We want more competitive rates in Canada, not just for wireless carriers but
for all consumer products. Canada is a lot expensive compared to the United
States when it comes to almost everything food, clothes, electronics, cars...accept
maybe lumber.
But for now, we will have to settle for and see how the competition ensues in
the wireless sector.
Kindle - Mixed reviews
Just like any big technology release, the Kindle is getting a lot of mixed reviews.
Forbes.com says buy, buy, buy, for Amazon Shares [NASDAQ:AMZN] because Kindle is a 'must have'.
Robert Scoble writes a letter to Jeff Bezos with a great rant about why the Kindle is the ugliest, and unusable thing since Windows??
A new web animation format...about freaking time!!!
I remember when animated Gif's where the coolest thing around. They were used everywhere... from a horizontal rule, to icons, to menu buttons to really annoying background animations on the whole webpage.
Run them at the time same - Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 beta together
Mozilla finally released the long awaited Firefox 3 beta. Still in its early stages, it is considered unstable and not fully secure. So if you are going to follow my instructions below and install it, tread with caution. Don't use it for writing any long emails without saving occasionally, and don't do your banking or online Christmas shopping with it just yet.

Live Photoshoot - How to's, Tips & Tricks - Video
After listening to Robert Scoble on TWIT, and surfing around on his website, I ran across these great 'Photowalks' that he has done with Thomas Hawk.
Robert follows Thomas Hawk around San Francisco Bay and under the Golden Gate Bridge as he is taking photos and talking about his habits, photographing routine, style and work - and in all that, he throws out lots of great tips on how to become a better photographer.

Social Networks - Perfect ad platforms, privacy issues and more...
When someone talks about social networking, what comes to your mind?
As Wikipedia defines it [in 2007]:
A social network is a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organizations) that are tied by one or more specific types of relations, such as financial exchange, friendship, hate, trade, web links, or airline routes.
It is a very generic and 'mathematical' definition, but all social networking sites follow the same basic model. They connect people with common goals, and interests.
Look and Feel testing across browsers - IMPORTANT!
While looking into Tagadelic, a module for Drupal that gives you a tag cloud, I ran across this great post. It's on Webschuur (creators of Tagadelic).
Very interesting post about browser compliance with regards to CSS rendering.
They also list a few sites that will significantly help you test your website across different browsers. I just used Browsershots.org, and my current site design displays beautifully across all browsers...accept...IE 5.5. and I'm not concerned.
Read up, and become a better content creator by making sure that your site works on most of the worlds popular browsers.
Rogers heard my cry - A follow up to 'Canadian Communication/Content Providers - The Lack Off'
I open my inbox today to a suprise. An email from Rogers Communication. Not sure why, or how, but I received a "Exclusive Screening of the New Rogers.com"
So, I'll follow up to my previous entry regarding Rogers and their lack of focus (with regards to existing customers) on their website.
Here is a copy of the email I received.
Old computer, New Games - So Hack!!
Well, it's not as dramatic as the title sounds, but my computer is getting pretty old, about 4 years now. It's a puny Athlon 2800+ XP. Overclocked a bit, but like everyone one knows, it's not much of a gain.
For the past little while, I've been addicted to
Canadian Communication/Content Providers - The Lack Off
Living in Canada, or more importantly the capital of Canada (No, not Toronto; Ottawa!!) I am ashamed at the quality of content providers we have. Having only experienced services on in Ontario and Quebec, I cannot speak for the whole country, but I've heard the that the same problem persists across the whole nation.
Quality Of Content: Or the lack there of. Maybe to
GMail ver 2 - But still in beta
Google started a trend a few years ago, where everything they released was a beta. This meant that you could use the software as you like, but at your own risk. If you stored data in GMail while it was in beta, you cannot hold GMail/Google responsible if it gets lots, errased or causes any damage to anyone or anything.
List of Useful MySQL Commands
Here is a list of some important queries that I have had to use with MySQL. Some of these are very helpful, others are plain invaluable.
View all the queries/threads/process that are running:
SHOW PROCESSLIST;
Kill a certain query that is long running:
Bring up the the processlist by using the SHOW PROCESSLIST; command, then
KILL <thread_id>;

Found my colours - Drupal Themes
This is a follow up to my previous entry re: Looking for colour - Drupal Themes. So, as you can see, I've found my colours and the site is all themed out - umm.. sort of.
When I started out to theme this site, I really didn't know where to start. I browsed through the Drupal.org Theme Archives quite a few times to see if I could find something that would fit what I had in mind. I also had a couple of ideas, and I thought I'd try things myself, but after tinkering around with the css for the garland theme, they weren't panning out very well.
